A Quick Guide for Troubleshooting USB Hidden Files and Folders

Virus is a common menace around the world. You can say goodbye to your thesis or other important files you store in your beloved Universal Serial Bus or Memory Stick once it gets infected by Shortcut viruses hahahaha!!! You can only cry for your lost Camera360 pics and other scandal stuffs LOL!

I'm just kidding. Worry no more! I got your back with this troubleshooting guide.

This is what people call as "ATTRIB"

First SCAN your memory stick for viruses. There are many trusted free and paid antiviruses known in the internet so googling will be of utmost importance.

Viruses hide Files and folders and replace them with Shortcuts in your Removable Disk.

Open Explorer (My Computer) and take note of the Removable Drive Letter. See Screenshot below.

Open Command Prompt (CMD)
a. Click windows logo and search or run cmd then enter.
b. Click windows logo - All programs - Accessories - Command Prompt
Command Prompt looks like a BLACK rectangle. See image below.

Type the Drive letter of the Removable Disk and a colon (in this case F:) and press enter
It should look like the image below.

This attrib stuff is a powerful thingy for those newbies and pros that can save the soul of your Removable disk.
Before our ultimate goal, let me show you the commands that you may want to include.
Type help(space)attrib  to show these commands.
See below.

OK, now that you have been introduced to our friends above let's continue to the next troubleshooting step.
We are going to use (-) to clear the attributes of the files inside the disk.
Type attrib(space)-r(space)-a(space)-s(space)-h(space)/s(space)/d and press enter
A little wait and you will know it is done when the line F:\> appears.
It should look like the image below.
It is safe to close the Command Prompt anytime you want.

Now that you're done, check the contents of your Removable disk and all the hidden files are now shown. There are cases that only a folder with no name will appear. It is safe to open the folder and you will find  your files inside.

Thank you for reading this piece of POST and I hope I satisfied your confused minds.
Long live the viruses! Ehem xD
